Walk in the Glow of Each Other's Majestic Presence

This is posted mainly for my own reference. It's a review of a book against gay marriage by another conservative who is pro gay-marriage and makes the conservative arguments for it. I am finding it useful as a concisely put set of answers to some of the "why gay marriage?" questions that people have--not necessarily right answers, mind you.

This article makes me pretty sad and angry. The City Manager of Largo, Florida is in the process of being removed from his position following an announcement that he plans to pursue a sex-change operation. This is apparently legal under the terms of his contract. The mayor and one commissioner voted against dismissing him, but that was not enough.

I doubt if it will do any good--there has apparently been significant supportive response from everyone except Largo voters themselves--but I've sent email to the City Commission at [email protected]. One could also call them at 727 587-6702, if one were so inclined.

I just got a great call from my best friend, who announced "I just had the best telemarketing experience!"

Apparently he picked up a call for his husband, Tom, from a Southern-accented telemarketer and after he explained that Tom is not at home, the woman asked if she could please speak to Tom's spouse, steve said "Speaking!" She paused and said "You're married to Tom?" "Yes, ma'am," he responded, "this is Massachusetts." She hesitated again and then launched into her spiel without further question.

The General Synod (national meeting) of the United Church of Christ, the denomination of the church where I work, that hosts Theatre@First, has overwhelmingly passed a resolution in support of equal marriage rights for all people, regardless of gender.
